LEAVE POLICIES

Mototolo Platinum Mine supports a healthy work-life balance through clearly structured leave entitlements. All leave must be approved in advance through the Human Resources system, unless otherwise specified under emergency provisions.

1. Annual Leave

  • Employees are entitled to 21 consecutive days of paid annual leave per annum (or 1.75 days per month worked), in accordance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).

  • Leave must be scheduled with due consideration to operational requirements.

  • Accrued leave must be taken within six months of the end of the annual leave cycle.

2. Sick Leave

  • Employees are entitled to 30 working days of paid sick leave over a 36-month cycle.

  • Within the first six months of employment, sick leave is pro-rated at 1 day for every 26 days worked.

  • A valid medical certificate is required for any sick leave of more than two consecutive days or repeated short-term absences.

  • Abuse of sick leave may lead to disciplinary action.

3. Family Responsibility Leave

  • Employees are entitled to 3 days of paid family responsibility leave per year in the event of:

    • The birth of a child

    • Illness of a spouse, life partner, parent, adoptive parent, grandparent, child, adopted child, grandchild, or sibling

    • Death of a close family member

  • Supporting documentation (e.g., medical certificate or death notice) may be required.

4. Special Leave

Mototolo may grant additional special leave on a case-by-case basis, subject to discretion by the HR Manager or General Manager. This may include:

  • Study Leave: For approved training or examination purposes

  • Unpaid Leave: Where annual leave is exhausted, subject to approval

  • Maternity/Paternity Leave: As per BCEA and applicable company policy

  • Compassionate Leave: Extended time off under exceptional circumstances

All leave categories are recorded and managed centrally through the HRIS system to ensure transparency, compliance, and planning efficiency.
