ADVERTISING & SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

1. PURPOSE

This policy governs all advertising and social media activity associated with Mototolo Platinum Mine. It aims to ensure responsible, accurate, and brand-aligned representation of the company while protecting our reputation and maintaining legal and ethical standards.


2. SCOPE

This policy applies to:

  • Print, broadcast, and digital advertising

  • Paid promotions and sponsorships

  • Company-managed social media pages

  • Employee conduct on personal social media platforms (in relation to the company)

  • Use of the company logo, name, or brand in external or digital channels


3. BRAND REPRESENTATION

All advertising and social media content must:

  • Adhere to the official Branding Guidelines

  • Reflect the company’s values of professionalism, safety, sustainability, and community partnership

  • Avoid false claims, exaggerations, or misleading information

  • Use correct and current logos, fonts, colours, and terminology

Only authorized individuals or vendors may produce or approve advertising material.


4. SOCIAL MEDIA USE – OFFICIAL ACCOUNTS

  • All official company social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, etc.) are managed by the Communications Department

  • Only pre-approved content is permitted to be posted

  • All posts must be documented, traceable, and compliant with internal guidelines and applicable laws (e.g., POPIA)


5. SOCIAL MEDIA USE – PERSONAL ACCOUNTS

Employees may not:

  • Speak on behalf of Mototolo Mine or Valterra Platinum unless officially designated

  • Share confidential information, images from restricted areas, or non-public updates

  • Post negative, controversial, or sensitive content involving the company

  • Use the company name, email domain, or logo in usernames, bios, or profile pictures without written approval


6. ADVERTISING APPROVAL PROCESS

All advertising (including digital banners, sponsored posts, radio/TV segments, or newspaper ads) must be approved by:

  1. Marketing/Communications Manager

  2. General Manager

  3. Legal Department (if containing financial, regulatory, or contractual elements)

No advertising or promotional content may be released without documented sign-off.


7. PARTNER/SPONSOR USAGE

External vendors, sponsors, or community partners may only use Mototolo's logo, branding, or association in promotions with:

  • Prior written approval

  • A signed co-branding agreement

  • Clear guidelines on placement, duration, and purpose

Misuse will result in legal recourse or termination of partnership.


8. CONTENT RESTRICTIONS

All advertising and social media must avoid:

  • Political or religious commentary

  • Discriminatory, violent, or offensive language or visuals

  • Inaccurate depictions of our operations, people, or communities

  • Unapproved use of drone footage or images from inside the mine or processing plant


9. MONITORING & COMPLIANCE

The Communications Department reserves the right to:

  • Monitor public and employee social media for brand mentions or risks

  • Request takedowns or retractions of content

  • Take disciplinary action in cases of breach


10. NON-COMPLIANCE

Violating this policy may result in:

  • Formal disciplinary procedures

  • Suspension of access to internal systems

  • Legal liability for reputational or financial damages
