1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to embed a culture of continuous improvement across all departments of Mototolo Platinum Mine. Through structured programs and initiatives, we aim to enhance safety, efficiency, sustainability, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction while reducing operational risks and waste.


2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, service providers, and stakeholders engaged in operations, support functions, or projects under Mototolo Platinum Mine.


3. Police

Mototolo Platinum Mine is committed to continuous improvement as a core strategic pillar. All individuals and teams are encouraged and expected to contribute ideas, adopt best practices, and use data-driven methods to identify and eliminate inefficiencies, non-conformities, and environmental or safety risks.


4. Key Principles

  • Employee Empowerment: Every employee is empowered to propose and lead improvement initiatives.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Improvements must be supported by relevant KPIs, metrics, and root cause analysis.

  • Innovation: Embrace technological, procedural, and strategic innovations that drive value and sustainability.

  • Sustainability: Improvement efforts should reduce environmental impact and enhance social outcomes.

5. Improvement Programs & Tools

5.1 Kaizen Events

Short, focused improvement projects targeting specific processes or issues. Teams identify root causes and implement solutions rapidly.

5.2 Lean & Six Sigma Tools

Applied to minimize waste, variation, and inefficiency using:

  • 5S

  • Value Stream Mapping

  • DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)

5.3 Employee Suggestion Scheme

A structured platform where employees can submit improvement ideas. Approved ideas may receive recognition or rewards.

5.4 Performance Reviews & Audits

Insights from operational reviews, CAPA reports, and audits are analyzed to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.

5.5 Digital Innovation

Utilizing data analytics, automation, and real-time monitoring systems to improve productivity, safety, and environmental controls.


6. Roles & Responsibilities

General Manager Approve major initiatives and review performance reports
HODs Lead and support improvement efforts within their functions
Continuous Improvement Lead / Coordinator Drive training, tracking, and project support
Employees Participate in improvement efforts and submit suggestions
Contractors/Suppliers Collaborate with internal teams to identify and support best practices

7. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • KPIs tracked include cost savings, process efficiency, quality improvements, and safety/environmental incident reduction.

  • Monthly reports submitted to senior management for review and strategic alignment.

  • Success stories shared in internal communication to foster a performance-driven culture.


8. Review and Continuous Update

This policy and all related programs are reviewed annually or after major incidents, changes in law, or strategic shifts.
